04.23Boosted Mobile’s New Headphones: Reviewed!!
I have recently received a pair of Boosted Grande Darkness headphones. First, let me make sure that you guys (girls?) know that this review has NOT been paid for by the company and it is my own writing, not theirs. However, the headphones were sent to me for free by the company for review purposes. Sam will also publish a second review.
Okay, I will first go through what they say are the key features of their product. They are listed as having a rich, smooth, decadent over-sized DJ monitor headphone with ultra rich sound, tuned fro low rumbling bass; low distortion highs, and consistent mids to give a wide dynamic rage. They also say that they have an ultra-soft ear padding and pliable headband for plush comfort and snug fit. I have to agree with them about the sound of the headphones. They had much better bass than both my iPod ear buds and my Turtle Beach headset. Also, they are very light headphones for their size, if you were wondering, they fully covered both of my ears. The padding was very comfortable, but I had one complaint about it. It traps heat, making your ears sweat. I know, it sounds really weird, but it is entirely true. I got very sweaty ears after wearing the headphones for longer than ten minutes [don't worry Boosted I didn't sweat too much
]. Although I said that they were comfortable and light, I must say that they definitely do NOT have a slim profile. I especially cannot see myself using these as a cellphone headset, their intended purpose.
Speaking of intended purpose, I will now review them as a cellphone headset. As I said previously, they are much too big to be used for this. Instead, I will review their sound quality and built-in microphone. It is very easy to hear whatever the person who is talking to you is saying. Also, the mic has good reception and I did not have to move it closer to my mouth for it to hear my voice. Unfortunately, most people would probably prefer a bluetooth headset instead of this. Luckily, if you do like the looks and don’t mind the wired part, they come with a iPhone extension jack.
Speaking of extension jacks, the Boosted headphones come with a fair amount. First they have the iPhone jack which is for using with your iPhone. Then they have the MP3/Laptop cable which transforms the cellphone jack into a standard jack. Next, we have the 6.3mm jack adapter which I did not tryout.
Not only did the box contain good headphones and adapters, it also contained a handy dandy carrying case. The headphones can be easily folded up to fit inside of this nice little bag. I suppose it’s a nice addition to the whole package.
Now, I will talk about their sound quality. I really enjoyed the massive amount amount bass. It really made a lot of my music sound much better than if I had been using my iPod headphones. If I was rating all of these sections out of ten, then I would totally give this section a ten out of ten. These are by far some of the best headphones I have ever worn sound quality wise.
To conclude this review I would like to say that you should definitely try these headphones before you buy them. Personally, I think these headphones can either be really great or really bad depending on your taste. I give them an 7/10. Would have received a 9/10 if it wasn’t made for cellphones. This is mainly because I think that they are too impractical to be used for cellphones.
