MacBook Air

Apple just announced their newest product: the MacBook Air. Measuring at a mere 0.16 at the bottom to 0.75 inches at the top, the MacBook Air is currently the world thinnest laptop. But can a notebook that small possibly be functional? For the most part, probably. The MacBook Air includes an Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 - 1.8 GHz Processor. That’s pretty good for such a small computer. The Mac also houses an 80GB hard drive, tiny compared to what you can get in some laptops today and it only has a single USB port. Not to mention the lack of a CD drive. Instead you put the CD in another computer and access it on your Air. Um? But it does include a multi-touch pad that allows iPhone-like hand gestures to control the computer in multiple ways. The battery holds a charge for 5 hours and the whole sucker weighs 3 pounds. It includes a special back-lit keyboard, 2 GB of RAM, and 802.11n Wireless and a Bluetooth 2.1 Card. The whole kits and caboodle costs $1799. It’s a little stunning to me why Apple can’t put a CD drive in their laptop. Sure, it’s good for extreme travelers who never need to use a CD drive. But I don’t know too many of them.   More pics after the jump.
